Deerhurst church is also very much a living parish Church.&nbsp; It is the parish church of Deerhurst with Apperley and is part of the Severnside Benefice.<br><em>For details of upcoming services please visit the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/severnsidebeneficewithtwyning.org.uk\/calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Benefice website<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-6ad8a62d\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Historical Interest&#8230;&#8230;.<\/strong><br>As you enter Deerhurst Church you can feel the years of history surrounding you.&nbsp; Worship has been offered in this setting continually for almost 1300 years.&nbsp;There is so much of historical interest in Deerhurst Church, but particular items to look out for include:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-71307d77\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\">The <strong>Cassey Brass<\/strong> at the east end of the north aisle:<br>Sir John Cassey of Wightfield who died in 1400 was Chief Baron of the Exchequer.&nbsp;<br>The brass contains a very rare example of a named animal (the dog named &#8220;Terri&#8221; or perhaps &#8220;Cerri&#8221;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-307effff\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-c0ac3722 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-62d48ae8 wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/apperley-deerhurst.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/10-13-reduced-Font-with-spiral-decoration-200x300.jpg \" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px\" src=\"https:\/\/apperley-deerhurst.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/10-13-reduced-Font-with-spiral-decoration-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Saxon Font\" class=\"uag-image-4976\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"> The <strong>Saxon font <\/strong>which stands in the north-west corner of the church:  This was discovered over a hundred years ago being used as a drinking trough in a local farm.&nbsp;
